AI Is Changing Who Can Build

One of the most exciting things happening in technology is that the ability to build is becoming more accessible.

In the past, creating a software product often required a large team with highly specialized skills.

Today, AI is beginning to change that.

The barrier to building is getting lower

AI can help people write code, explore designs, analyze information, automate workflows, and turn rough ideas into working prototypes.

This doesn’t mean expertise is no longer important.

It means that individuals and small teams can achieve significantly more with the right tools.

The distance between an idea and an early product is getting smaller.

Someone with a strong understanding of a problem can now experiment much faster than before.

A new generation of builders

I believe AI will create a new generation of builders.

People who may not have traditional technical backgrounds will be able to prototype ideas, test products, and learn by building.

Small teams will be able to compete in areas that previously required much larger organizations.

The advantage will no longer come only from having the biggest team.

It will increasingly come from understanding important problems, thinking clearly, and executing quickly.

AI changes the leverage, not the importance of thinking

AI can accelerate execution, but it doesn’t automatically create a great product.

Someone still needs to decide:

• What problem is worth solving?
• Who is the product for?
• What should be built?
• Why would people use it?
• How should the product evolve?

Those questions still require judgment.

AI gives builders more leverage. But leverage is most valuable when combined with curiosity, product thinking, and a willingness to learn.

AI is not just changing how software is built. It’s changing who gets the opportunity to build it.
